the blue Danube

The Blue Danube" is the common English title of "An der schönen blauen Donau", (German for "On the Beautiful Blue Danube"), a waltz by the Austrian composer Johann Strauss II, composed in 1866. Originally performed on 15 February 1867 at a concert in Vienna it has been one of the most consistently popular pieces of music in the classical repertoire. Its initial performance was considered only a mild success, but its nowadays one of the most recognisable tunes on the planet,
whenever i hear the tune it reminds me of the tom and gerry claasic - Johann Mouse which won an oscar for the for Best Animated Short Film, marking the cat and mouse duo's tenth consecutive nomination and their twelfth nomination for thirteen years (Tom and Jerry was nominated for every year since 1940, except for 1942). this won the Oscar becoming the duo's seventh win in the category, and i remember it well even though I haven't seen it in perhaps forty year! you never seem to hear or see ant tom and jerry these days, its probably not PC these days

I had intentionally downloaded Strauss blue Danube music to my iTunes before I left home, and had thoroughly intended before departure to play it in Vienna where Strauss is huge, while i cycled over one of the bridges their, that was the plan but the way things worked out I played it coming over the bridge from Slovakia to Hungary with grace as she had asked me is there a tune called the blue Danube? lol I said to grace  wait a Minuit and put on stausses blue Danube on my phone at top volume from my bar bag for the duration of our cycle over that bridge, happy to be at our destination just as the sun was going down, then I felt a nerd as we reached the other shore and were passing folk so I switched of the tunes, but it was pleasant at the time because we were pleased to have made our destination after a long hard days cycling
the actual river by that time was starting to lose its blue tinge from the mineral waters and was quickly becoming the same colour as most other rivers, the section we had cycled between Gyor to Esztergom (the Hungarian Rome) was a long hard day so the tune was a bit of light relief that gave us both a laugh as we cycled over into our destination for the night we thought all the hard work was done, it wasn't grace had two miles further up the route to go, I was gonna find somewhere in town which i did the light was fading her front light wasn't working I gave her my head-torch she refused to take off her cycle helmet so we put it on her bar bag, I was later to find out she was very thankful of it, at the time of our parting i felt bad but there was no way i was gonna cycle two mile out of town and discover the place was full or extortionate

the place i eventually found was cool right next to the basillica, when i booked in I was super thirsty, i got a bottle of water a bottle of coke and a bottle of beer at reception, which i asked to get added to my room bill my room for the night plus breakfast plus the drinks was £38! and you would not believe the location, it was a truly majestic walk down into town right through the double entrances of this huge monastic majestic building
it says something alexander above the arch
it was late but i found a place for pasta and beer and wolved it down until they shut, grace had joked her place was posh as she had a pool but she was dining alone and way out of town I had the better deal by far,
obviously taken in the morning when leaving
