on the road or path again!
This is the disappearing act of the Danube – it sinks into the limestone and travels underground through limestone caverns for nearly 7.5 miles and then reappears. You can hear it as you stand on the nearly dry riverbed/sinkhole and the river becomes an underground river network, which strangely ends up draining into the Rhine! the number of days the Danube water has been draining into the Rhine has increased over the years and is now at 270 days a year with scientists thinking it may well get to the stage that this stretch of the river will all empty itself into the Rhine,
you cycle passed this section on the cycle path to tuttlingen which I done the 35 kms of lovely cycle paths in just over three hours, it was very scenic and i stopped to take plenty photos I even done a bit of twitching as I saw lots of different raptors a kingfisher some sort of fancy coloured jay, lots of storks and herons along with lots of little birds and the usual ducks and swans, the river seemed to be teaming with fish and i seen my first ever beaver damm (lodge)
Once in tuttlingen i found a bar down by the river oh OK it was another Irish bar i sought out but its location was good! i had a beer while researching a hotel for the night all the ones around me according to my Hotels APP were around £90 i felt this was a bit rich for just me and had walked passed loads of little old fashioned hotels I decided i would walk in and ask one? the first one I went to had a room including breakfast for 45 euros I shall take it said I and got my bike locked up in the hotel garage and up to my old fashioned but clean room with decent wifi a bargain
after a shower and a catch up on social network I went back to the Irish bar and had dinner and a few beers the place was mobbed, dinner was good there was a big barrel of peanuts you could help yourself to and just ditch the shells on the floor! so I sat at the bar eating nuts and reading my book until it was time for me to leave
